Fischmarkt 3 22767, Hamburg
Carl Cohrs, also known as Eier-Carl, was and is a well-known personality in Hamburg. In 1903 he took over from his father a restaurant at the Fischmarkt, which was located exactly at the aforementioned corner of the Große Elbstraße. The sign still indicates this today. Cohr's internationally renowned inn attracted a large influx of visitors and thus contributed to the fish market becoming known far beyond Hamburg's borders. Mr. Cohrs runs a very simple, but by cleanliness and cozy sound outstanding restaurant, which is famous up to the sound and into the street of Biscaya raved a contemporary. The steamers from far and near bring loyal customers, yes, the tour guides of course stop here with their protégés. When Carl Cohrs died in 1937, his widow continued the business, but unfortunately not for very long. Only six years later, in 1943, the year of war, she had to close by order of the National Socialists and the famous inn disappeared from the Fischmarkt.
